Conrads Transport
The Conrad Group began over fifty years ago hauling gravel from the Eastern Shore to Dartmouth and Halifax. Trucking with their own trucks, H.W. "Jim" Conrad and Fraser Conrad, did just about any kind of hauling they could. They began screening in the area in the fifties and took a leadership role in the industry. This was in a time when Dartmouth was beginning to develop as a thriving community. Conrad Brothers was incorporated in 1956 and has been one of the largest rock quarries in Nova Scotia ever since.

Shaw Group Limited
We have grown significantly from our original one-plant operation in 1966 when the Shaw Group Limited purchased Nova Scotia Sand & Gravel. Today, we operate six manufacturing and processing plants. We continue to search for growth initiatives and welcome new product and business ideas. Nova Scotia Sand & Gravel offers over 100 aggregate-based products, including blasting abrasives, concrete and mortar sands, glass sand, filter sand, landscape aggregate and concrete mix. It supplies almost 2000 customers in over 20 distinct industries. The Keddy plant is able to screen, wash and blend aggregates to create high quality, consistent products. However, this operation has also become the East Coast leader in golf course aggregate. Its USGA sands can be found on all major golf courses throughout the region.
